    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

Alright at this point, I'm accumulating the cash for the piston/rod assembly (bottom end kit), and a top end kit. The cylinder condition I have pictured in the thread above (area where cylinder sleeve meets cylinder has me concerned. I know about cars, used to be a tech, so have an...

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

I am drawn now to the look of the piston skirt where it meets up with the cylinder. The photo shows not necessarily a machined edge. What do you fellas make of this? I need to know if this is a-okay to go back on the motor...looks a little fishy to me.... the other pic is off the...

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

Okay that should work because as it is I am purchasing a crank and rod assembly that will come with new bearings. The connecting rod bearing is totally seized and misaligned. I don't know how to press it out and replace it so I'm just replacing the crankshaft and connecting rod assembly...

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

Cool thanks. I figure thats not good with that crack there given I drive through creeks and what not... If that sealer is heavy duty that oughta do it... What about the removing the crankshaft and seal the rest of the way from the case - you have a suggestion?

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

See this chip in the case on the stator side? That call for a new case? I wouldn't think so, but I'm askin you guys... Also - I saw the other recommendations on how to get the crank seal out, with a hammer and a screw driver, taking care to not damage the case. So I have the case split...

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

I have not left my Blaster for dead. I will soon have the funds to commit to parts and what seems apparent now, special tools. I have begun disassembling the bottom end as there is indeed metal debris in the crankcase and I have a seized connecting rod bearing. I am now at the point...

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

I certainly won't have the cash to pay this guy to do the whole rebuild anytime soon...and a little over $200 for the crank and rod assembly is a bit much. Either I'll have to deal with it until I have the cash for it, or I'll at least tear it down to that point and have the guy take it from...

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

At least completely removed the motor from the quad now. There were four connections, (I thought were sleeves over splices), right there by the motor. So a guy my friend knows who rebuilds these things tells me that it is a three piece crank on my Blaster ('96). That will need a bearing...

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

From the information I've been given from this guy I bought it off of, I feel as though he had a top end rebuild and perhaps didn't do anything with the bottom end. I'm a bit perplexed as to how it ran as well as it did the first few times out, only problems not really idling as well, with the...

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

It appears as though the bearing came apart/got mis positioned in the race for the connecting rod. There is a thin opening at the base of the connecting rod where I can see the obviously crooked bearing inside. I can also see scoring on the bottom ends of the connecting rod. Also I can...

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

Okay cool thanks man. I'm doing this with my arm in a sling, so it's a bit slow going...All I saw was the wires going up into the frame the other day...but if there's a connector up there - that's what I'm lookin for.

    Mysterious seized motor *HELP PLEASE!*

I know this isn't the greatest photo, I'll try and get a better one after work today with more light... I have the motor detatched and the only thing left is this electrical connection going into the left side of the case. I wanted to be sure how to detach it without breaking the contacts I...

So new I've already blown a motor and flipped on a hill...

Hell yeah that is a good one. Yeah thats what the guys I was riding with said. "We'd love to tell ya this won't happen again buuuut.....it probably will". I responded that I sure as hell hope this exact thing doesnt happen again, but...I can understand I gotta earn my spurs on this bad...

So new I've already blown a motor and flipped on a hill...

^^^Thanks! I'm just happy I walked away from that craziness... and anxious to get my Blaster runnin again! It's funny because even after all that I still had a lot of fun that day....pretty wide range of terrain - wide open sand and dunes, forest paths, creeks, low lying ponds to skim...
