    Stock pilot is a 38 and stock main is a 148....since your not much above sea level,for a slip on ,filter and open air box, I would go with a 155-158 main....and definitely a 42 pilot

    your going to need to jet with even those small mods.......The 400EX is pretty lean from the factory, especially on the pilot. Its very easy and as long as you dont get any dirt in the carb, its foolproof.... The 42 pilot is a must and its the perfect size for both stock and modified bikes...

    Put the lid back on and see how it is....its gonna be pretty lean with stock jets and no lid.....add in the slip on and its even leaner. You should have a 42 pilot and at least a 158 main with those mods...also put the air screw at 2.5 turns out ....

    What are you running for fuel mix? and what type of oil? Also,since this bike is new to you and you said it ran like a scaled ape.....I would check the jetting before you fry a new engine....my money says its pretty damn lean
