    2003 Blaster Restoration

Another small update, spent another couple hours on the bike over the last few days, reassembled the whole front end, slight problem, I only ordered the Diamond J widening kit as opposed to the widening and shock conversion kit so the standard front shocks are on at the moment until I get the...

    2003 Blaster Restoration

Quick question, while rebuilding the carb with the kit I purchased I noticed I don't have a a splash guard? Is it advisable to purchase one or can I run without one?

    2003 Blaster Restoration

Slow progress lately, death in family and busy with other more urgent items the past few weeks, as it stands I've got the frame and swingarm back from the Powder Coaters, I've not done much else to be honest spent an hour or two with it yesterday, attached steering stem and front brake lines...

Jus_me 5/5 - Very very helpful, ordered me a bunch of jets and shipped to Ireland so I could avoid large shipping fees from jetsrus, great guy to deal with

    My 88's progress

That's the danger, where do you stop putting money into a project. As mine stands I've basically paid for everything I need except one or two things (approx 200-250$ left to purchase) but I see $100's worth of stuff I'd love to buy so I'll slowly start adding them once mine is back together...

Must say I'm really liking this :) Orange on Black will look sick if you go ahead with it  Best of luck with the rest of the project

    2003 Blaster Restoration

Ok slight change of plan, frame is being galvanised first before powdercoating just to ensure no rust in the future, I don't plan on selling this anytime soon once it's finished so and the whole process will more than likely end up costing me no more than $30 :) May have a buyer for the Tri Z...

    2003 Blaster Restoration

Dad rang me while I was at college with a nice little surprise, the bike is located in his work factory at the moment and he had some spare time so decided to make himself useful and remove the swingarm bolt for me :) I didn't get a chance to do anything this week so that will help move things...

http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/threads/best-penetrating-oil-for-stuck-nuts-bolts.773380/ Interesting read, going to try the acetone/ATF mix and see does it help :)

    2003 Blaster Restoration

Yes I've sprayed both ends but only with WD40, maybe I'll a stronger penetrating oil will do the trick and a vise grips to grip it while pulling, I'll report back once I try that :) Thanks

    2003 Blaster Restoration

Stripped some parts from the Blaster, it has a Durablue extended axle and good condition full maier plastics so with those alone I'll nearly make all the money back :) Now to my project I tried the swingarm bolt again with a bigger hammer, got it to move slightly but now its gone as far as a...

    2003 Blaster Restoration

After further investigation it turns out it's a 1986 Tri-Z 250 engine, not exactly a YZ250 but still at least it's a genuine yamaha engine which I can break and sell :)

    2003 Blaster Restoration

Plan to widen the front either with new arms or a widening kit depending on funds, the bike won't be jumping or driven hard so, once widened then I'll fit the shocks I've read some members here have fitted them with much better results than stock :)
